Georgia Tech Opportunities

The Paper Museum welcomes opportunities to work with Georgia Tech faculty and staff to provide enrichment experiences for university classes. The museum is an extraordinary resource for a variety of disciplines.

 

For Faculty and Staff:

Papermaking workshop

Time: 75 minutes

Maximum: 25 students

Fee: $8 per student ($15 non-Georgia Tech classes)

Have your students experience traditional European papermaking! Students will perform the process of making paper, from pulling sheets to preparing dry boxes. Each participant will make about 10 sheets of cotton paper. Program can be adapted for 50 minute class with a pre-visit presentation about the papermaking process.

 

Monoprints

Time: 75 minutes

Maximum: 25 students

Fee: $8 per student ($15 non-Georgia Tech classes)

Monoprints are one-of-a-kind prints created using the Museum’s etching press. Students will create unique designs to print using a variety of materials. Can be combined with the papermaking workshops for a multi-visit experience.

 

Exhibit Tour

Time: 50 minutes

Maximum: 25 students

Fee: $3 per student ($5.50 non-Georgia Tech classes)

Tour the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking to discover the fascinating history and developments in papermaking. Tour can be modified to address specific content needs.

Faculty are expected to be present during the duration of the program.


For Students:

Internships

Internships for credit may be arranged with a faculty advisor. Students would need to follow any requirements from the department providing academic credit.

 

Employment

The Museum employs student workers to assist with tours, exhibit installation, and collections work. Potential student workers must be available at least two mornings a week between 9-11am. Training for handling artifacts, leading tours, and papermaking is provided. Work study opportunities are available.
