Join us for a Summer of Surface as we explore a variety of ways to create unique and interesting surface designs. Families of all ages and sizes are welcome to register for these workshops. All family workshops are taught by Jerushia and Miriam Graham, two Atlanta-based artists who have been teaching for many years.

The Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking is pleased to co-host Chasing Paper, the Friends of Dard Hunter Annual Conference from October 11-13, 2017. The Friends were founded in 1981 to support the care and preservation of Hunter's extensive collection of papers, tools, equipment, and artifacts related to the history of hand papermaking. Hunter began his museum in 1956, which eventually became known as the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking.

Robert C. Williams, co-founder of James River Corporation and paper industry leader, passed away on October 25, 2016 at the age of 86. Williams was a visionary in the pulp and paper sector who also held a deep desire to preserve the history and importance of papermaking for future generations.

Williams served as Chairman and President and CEO of the James River Corporation, retiring in 1996. Upon his retirement, the Board of Directors funded an endowment to support the Museum of Papermaking, which now bears his name.

The Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking will be participating in the 2016 Atlanta Maker Faire on Saturday, October 1 in downtown Decatur. This is the fourth year the museum has participated, and each year the event grows larger. 

"We're excited to take papermaking out to the community," says Education Curator Virginia Howell. "People of all ages are truly exited to try their hand at making paper. And getting to take a piece they made themselves is pretty cool."
