Join local papermaker Robert Thompson of Lot 10 Paper in this hands-on workshop where you will experiment with unusual materials to create unique and interesting papers. Animate with ASIFA-South

Back by popular demand! The Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking is hosting an ASIFA-South Animation Workshop.

The Animate with ASIFA-South workshop is about the craft of animating with paper cut outs, found materials, and a whole lot of imagination. Attendees will learn the pipeline for hand-made paper animations from concept and fabrication to animating using cameras. ASIFA members invite you to engage in this community based educational experience. We welcome audiences of all ages to join us in order to learn, grow, and most importantly, have fun!

ASIFA-South is the Atlanta branch of the international animation society that has over 50 chapters across the globe. ASIFA seeks to foster a sense of community among Atlanta based animators/filmmakers and beyond by providing educational and networking opportunities. Such opportunities include: monthly mixers, year round workshop events, film screenings, and most importantly, an annual festival showcasing Oscar Nomination worthy films by directors all across the globe. Marbling

For centuries paper marbling was a closely held secret of a few skilled practitioners, but no more. In this one-day workshop you will learn the basics of traditional paper marbling, and make several sheets of your own beautiful marbled paper.  We’ll begin with Stone, and move on to progressively more involved patterns such as Get Gel, Nonpareil, Zebra , and Spanish as well as many others.  All supplies will be provided and are included in the cost of the workshop. Hand-outs will be provided with detailed instructions on how to marble on your own and where to buy supplies.  The workshop will include a guided tour of the marbling exhibit at the Museum.
