Art to Connect: Virtual Pop-UP Card Workshop

Description: Pop into this virtual workshop where you can explore different techniques to make pictures leap off the page.  Participants will visit our new virtual exhibit, Kinetic Joy, learn about the engineering behind the jack and the box pop-up and then make their own kinetic card. Connect to others by sending your card to a friend to say hello with a “pop”! 


Optional workshop kit fee: $20 for 1 participant, $15.00 GT faculty staff or student or museum member. Additional $5.00 for each participant 



Kit includes: video link to an instructional video that demonstrates additional elements to the workshop project, as well as printed instructional guides, templates and paper

Art to Connect- Virtual Origami Note Folding

Description: The art of Japanese paper folding, origami, can turn a simple note into a stunning creation. Learn about the history of papercraft traditions for note folding, wrapping, and packaging. Then explore different folding techniques to turn your letter into sharable art.   


Optional workshop kit fee: $20 for 1 participant, $15.00 GT faculty staff or student or museum member. Additional $5.00 for each participant 


Kit includes:  video links to 2 additional letter and packaging origami techniques: star container, and origami box, as well as 6 assorted chiyogami papers that feature patterns reproduced from the museum collection.
