About Paper Technology

The Industrialization of Papermaking tour starts out with the Rittenhouse Paper Mill, the first paper mill in the United States, then goes through the development of papermaking machinery,  the stamp act, how the Revolutionary War and Civil War impacted paper mills in the United States, and the development modern day papermaking equipment.

The Industrialization of Papermaking tour is a 1 hour program, and the Industrialization of Papermaking Tour & Hands-on Workshop is a 1 hour 30 min program. The tour & Hands-on Workshop consists of a 45 min virtual tour and a 45 min papermaking activity, where participants will make their own piece of paper to take home in an exciting hands-on workshop.
