About Virtual Industrialization of Papermaking

The Virtual Industrialization of Papermaking tour starts out with the Rittenhouse Paper Mill, the first paper mill in the United States, then goes through the development of papermaking machinery,  the stamp act, how the Revolutionary War and Civil War impacted paper mills in the United States, and the development modern day papermaking equipment.

The virtual tour encourages the audience to spend more time examining artifacts and learning their stories to develop an understanding of how the papermaking industry developed. A group booking the virtual tour can add on a hands-on book making workshop facilitated by museum staff, and the supplies will be provided to the group leader for distribution.
