Group Paper Arts Experiences
These “crafternoons” are suitable for activity groups, clubs, social organiza-tions, or anyone with an interest in exploring papercraft in a fun and social setting. Book one or a series! Crafternoons may be booked Monday- Friday, 10am - 4pm, depending on educator availability. Programs are suitable for all skill levels. No previous art experience required!

Programs are booked on a first-come, first served basis. Programs are available Tuesday-Friday, 10am - 4pm, depending on instructor availability. *** Note: Any programs scheduled outside of the museum’s regular hours may be subject to an additional fee.*** A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the balance will hold the program date. Payment can be made by cash, check (made out to Georgia Tech), or charge (Visa, MC, Discover, or American Express).

Program Options
Suminagashi
Description: Discover the ancient Japanese art of suminagashi, or “floating ink,” in this workshop. Create beautiful one-of-a-kind ink patterns and transfer onto specially prepared papers.

Paste Paper
Description: Creating paste paper is like finger painting for adults! Using a special paint mixture, produce amazing designs and patterns with combs, rakes, and other tools.

Printmaking
Description: Design and print your own masterpiece. Use a variety of materials to create a work of art! Printmaking workshop can be done with different materials, so the cost and length of workshop varies.

Japanese Stab Binding
Description: The Japanese Stab binding is a traditional binding technique called Yotsume Toji, which translates to “four holes.” Decorative paper wrapped covers enclose the interior folio pages which are bound together through punched holes and stitching.

Accordion Book
Description: Accordion Books have tag-board covers, wrapped with decorative paper and pages that fold in a zig-zag manner. Pages with pockets and small pop-ups can be added to the book if requested.

Petal Fold Book
Description: The petal fold book technique combines book binding with origami to create a book that blooms, or unfolds at it opens. The book has decorative paper wrapped tag-board covers, 8 origami folded pages with a ribbon binding and closure.

Pamphlet
Description: Basic pamphlet books have 8 pages with decorative covers and a three hole stitch binding. This booklet can be taught as a quarto or octavo booklet, or with additional pages.

Tunnel Book
Description: The book consists of paper layers forming a “tunnel” with a foreground, mid-ground, and background. Participants will design simple abstract imagery for each layer of the book.

Case Bound Book
Description: Case bound book with 5 signatures using a long stich with tapes. Decorative paper wrapped covers and optional decorative end papers for an additional charge. This book is sized at 4.5 inches x 5.5 inches.

Paper Cuts
Description: Participants will be introduced to the history of Paper Cuts and how cultures all over the world used the delicate cut paper for religious, celebratory and other purposes. Through an instructor demonstration, participants will learn how to make their own paper cut, using paper, cutting tools, and cutting mats. Participants will have the option to design their own paper cut or make one from provided template designs.

Paper Beads
Description: Love jewelry and paper? Then schedule this workshop where participants learn a technique to create one-of-a kind beads that can be strung into bracelets, necklaces, or other jewelry.

Quilling
Description: Quilling is a historic paper craft in which strips of paper are twirled, spun, and combined to create beautiful, dimensional works. Learn how to quill with materials you have at home, or with tools and create your own one-of-a-kind artwork. This workshop can be tailored to beginner or more advanced skill levels. Pop-Ups
Description: Pop Ups aren’t just for children’s books! Explore paper engineering and learn how to make two-dimensional papers into 3D objects. Cutting, folding, crimping, and rolling are just a few of the techniques to try in this hands-on workshop. Different pop-up styles available for booking

Description: This workshop merges the sculptural characteristics of clay and the versatility of paper. Participants will learn carving and sculpture techniques to create their own unique design. Sculpture can be themed.
