Islamic style paper and thread 

"La Cordillera is the Spine" is created from hand-torn folios of various sizes bound together by attaching Islamic-style handmade paper to a wire using a beautiful headband stitch across the full length of the book. Smaller bits of paper are clustered on either end of the book, gradually progressing to larger sheets as they come towards the middle. The wire within in the spine of the book is arranged to mimic the curvature of the human spine.
