Dr. Oh-Kyu Lee will share his experience in rediscovering how to make certain types of Korean traditional paper called Hanji. In the past, there were more than two hundreds varieties of Hanji, which varied depending on source materials, size, usage, etc. Only a few of them are still being produced in Korea today. The topic of Dr. Lee’s talk will focus on two types of Korean traditional paper, named Taeji and Siji.

Join us for this virtual Lecture, Stitch, dye, sculpt, fly - the endless versatility of Washi,  with guest speaker Nanci Jacobi. Washi means Japanese paper - Wa = Japanese and shi = paper. Jacobi’s love of Washi and its history led her to establish the Japanese Paper Place, in Toronto Ontario. The Japanese Paper Place is a major distributor of washi.

In celebration of Poetry month, join us for this fun workshop that combines bookbinding and poetry. Participants will learn how to make an octavo pamphlet binding, and then have the chance to write a simple poem to start the book off. Participants will also be given a list of daily poetry prompts for the month of April to further inspire poetic writings. Kit not included but supply list provided. All skill levels welcome!

Mesoamerican beaten bark papers, known as amate, amatl, or huun, have been used by ancient bookmakers and scribes to produce codices since pre-Columbian times. Explore traditional amate papermaking technique along with modern innovations as practiced by a 21st-century artist and papermaker. Lisa Miles creates one-of-a-kind beaten bark paperworks using plant-based materials and natural dyes.

Fast Film Fest 2022 is the fourth year of the stop motion animation festival sponsored by the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking in partnership with ASIFA-South and the GA Tech Libraries. People of all ages and skills were invited to create films that are 5 minutes or less in length and that address the theme, Press Start. Check out the juried selected submissions, meet our jurors, and cast your vote for People's Choice during the Fast Film Fest 2022 Screening.
