Light-up your space with your own handmade tea-light lanterns. Participants will have the opportunity to make two origami lanterns: the lotus blossom and star lantern. Learn how to fold translucent decorative paper into beautiful creations and then add tea lights to make them shine!
Explore the art of hand-made accordion books! Journals, sketchbooks, to-do lists, or keepers of dreams—discover one of the forms that these special books can take. Participants will learn simple book making techniques and create their own accordion-fold book.
Learn how to make your drawing come to life with this Flip book workshop! Participants will explore this simple and fun form of animation, using basic drawing skills and bookbinding techniques to make their own flipbook. The art of Japanese paper folding, origami, can turn a simple sheet of paper into a stunning creation. Join us for this workshop where we will be making origami cranes! Participants will have the opportunity to make several cranes, to keep and/or add to a chain of cranes for community display. All skill levels welcome. Description: Come clip, snip, and cut your way through a hands-on workshop focused on paper cutting. Discover how to create your own delicate designs using two simple materials: paper and a blade! In this workshop, we will explore the historic Mexican paper cutting traditions, used in celebrations for Day of the Dead, Dia de Muertos. These “Papel Picado,” or punched papers often feature patterns of skull and are placed around altars. All skill levels welcome.
