Sprout

Abaca, kozo, natural dye, linen thread
"Sprout" is a book that cascades over the edge of a shelf. The various lengths of bound abaca and kozo papers dyed in shades of green create an ombre that hangs in space out away from the wall.

Pigmented abaca
"The National Narrative" consists of a black flag hanging out away from the wall with a length of chain with five sets of cuff lengths attached at intervals along the chain.
Handmade paper, pulp painting, blowout and kallotype
"Specimens" presents ghostly Rorschach-like abstracted shapes in a series of white frames. Some of the images are created through blowout papermaking techniques, pulp painted, or use a photographic contact print called a Kallotype. Though three different techniques were used, the black and white palette along with the formal framing create a cohesive installation.
Handmade paper, lithography and woodcut artist book
"Memories of the Barong" is a wall installation that mimics the pattern pieces of a garment. Each handmade, naturally-colored abaca paper piece has inclusions of photographs of Indonesian people. Some are silkscreened with white text and others have stitching right through the paper with needles hanging from the ends of the threads. The pattern pieces slightly overlap one another, creating an undulating shape on the wall.
Handmade paper
"Zheng" consists of triangular-shaped paper pebbles arranged in rows of varying widths based on color.
Monotype, ink on paper with chine collé
"Park1" is a sheet of paper with squares or openings much like a threadbare or loosely woven textile. The white paper has a stripe of vibrant pick across its center point to create focus.
Handmade Thai Kozo paper with ink, cotton, and paper thread
"Of Individuals" consists of 8 diptych panels made of pigmented abaca. Each panel has a figure drawn on it in black ink. The panels are connected to each other with threads, implying connections between the people drawn on each panel.
Paper from local plants, abaca, fur
"Nocturnal" appears woven at first glance, but upon closer inspection it becomes clear that the curved sheet with fur across the edges is cut with plenty of tiny chads. As the light is cast through the piece, a gridded pattern appears on the wall just underneath the free-hanging piece.
Japanese paper (Thai kozo), kami-ito paper thread; gilding gold paint
"Fragile Hope" takes the form of a paper spider web created from finely twisted kami-ito thread made from kozo paper. It is particularly beautiful when the light catches it-- just the way light plays with real webs.
Kozo pulp; thread
"Rhizome" hangs elegantly from the ceiling, displaying open airy spheres created from kozo covered threads.
